TNPL launches cement plant..

Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) established in 1984, produces 400,000 tonnes of paper per annum. In the process of manufacturing paper, the company generates about 250 tonnes of lime sludge and 120 tonnes of fly ash per day. These two are key inputs for cement manufacture. To make better use of these waste materials, TNPL has set up a 600 tonnes per day cement plant at Kagithapuram, Karur District, TNPL is the first mill in the paper industry in the country, producing cement from solid wastes. The capital outlay of the project is Rs 100 crore. 

TNPL received the Indian Paper Mills Award, Paper Mill of the Year Award for three consecutive years, a unique record in the Indian paper industry.

TNPL also got the National Award for “Excellence in Water Management 2011” from CII – Southern region in the industrial sector.

TVS Logistics acquires UK company

R Dinesh, Managing Director,TVS Logistics services Ltd, announced of a 100 crore acquisition of the UK based Rico logistics. The acquisition is expected to help the company with added key service capabilities such as ‘last mile rapid’ and new services verticals such as I.T., Telecom and Medical that can strengthen its services to its customers globally. 

“The Rico acquisition helps us to add a number of new capabilities and allows us to offer new solution to our existing and new customers in markets like India and other parts of Asia” said Dinesh

Dinesh also cited a few more acquisitions which were on top of the cards which will help them to strengthen existing capabilities and also diversify to new verticals.                           -Navaneeth K
