Housing Innovation Challenge, 2015

Saint-Gobain has launched the Housing Innovation Challenge that invites thinkers and innovators to identify critical areas that arise in housing and come up with their solutions by 5 September 2015.

Both professionals and the general public can submit their entries. In the professional arena, architects, designers, planners and engineers are to dwell  on sustainable housing and smart city housing categories. The general public can register their housing related problems.

The best suggestion will be selected by a panel comprising of Professor Krishna Rao Jaisim, Brinda Somaya and Rahul Kadri, who will be responsible to lead the winning entries into the implementation phase. Indian Green Building Council is the knowledge partner for the challenge and the supporting partner is Smart Cities Council India.

From professional category, the winner will receive a sum of Rs 250,000 and the first and second runners-up will be rewarded with Rs 150,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively. From the public category, ten best innovative ideas will get Rs 25,000 each. Winning entries will be announced on 15 October 2015.

Speaking on the challenge,  B Santhanam, President- Flat Glass South Asia, Malaysia and Egypt, Saint-Gobain said: “over the last 350 years, Saint-Gobain has been impacted by a changing world and in its own way has also helped  shape that world through constant R&D, technology and innovation.”
