ISRO's 100th mission
On 9 September, the PSLV put on orbit two foreign satellites, in what was hyped to be the 100th space mission of the ISRO. It carried SPOT-6, a French earth observation satellite and proiteres, a 15-kg Japanese microsatellite.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a host of other dignitaries watched the flight path on electronic screens.

SPOT-6, an optical remote-sensing satellite capable of imaging the earth with a 1.5-metre resolution, weighed 720 kilo and is the biggest commercial lift so far for a foreign client. This was the third wholly commercial launch undertaken by the ISRO for foreign clients. 

Radhakrishnan, Director ISRO, also referred to the next big project in the pipeline, a Mars mission. The mission which would be completed by November 2013 would involve a voyage of 300 days.
