It carried SPOT-6, a French earth observation satellite and proiteres, a 15-kg Japanese microsatellite.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a host of other dignitaries watched the flight path on electronic screens.

SPOT-6, an optical remote-sensing satellite capable of imaging the earth with a 1.5-metre resolution, weighed 720 kilo and is the biggest commercial lift so far for a foreign client. This was the third wholly commercial launch undertaken by the ISRO for foreign clients.
