People Flow Day- Safety

2013 marks the fourth Kone people flow day. Close to 1000 Kone employees in more than 30 countries around the world visit more than 100 sites to get closer to customers. Ia India, over 180 employees are set to study what makes an elevator or escalator ride a smooth, safe and functional experience. “Safety is of utmost importance to us, and we constantly strive towards achieving our ultimate goal of zero accidents by paying rigorous attention to our design, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance processes,” said Tomio Pihkala, Executive Vice President of Safety, Quality and Installation. The valuable data from customers are recorded for further research.

Kone Elevator India MD,  Neeraj Sharma said “our employees in India are visiting 30 sites across segments - residential, commerical, retail, hotel, medical and special buildings. We have been actively participating in the people flow day for the last three years and have learnt a lot.” KONE is the only elevator company to be listed in the top 100 most innovative company in Forbes.

IE has been covering this Finnish company in Chennai right from its inception:  Best & Crompton, then headed by the illustrious M K Kumar, ventured into bringing the European giant Kone Elevators headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. Finnfund, the development bank of Finland, joined hands. Post 1991, Kone opted to acquire full control and has been making great progress over the last two decades.
