Bridging the skill deficit in pharma industry

One of the fastest growing sectors, pharmaceuticals will be in need of an increased manpower that is knowledgeable and industry-ready. Currently there is a huge gap between the graduates and the industry. To address this gap and to provide industry-ready graduates, Chennai based Take Solutions has launched the Take Academy of Life Sciences and Leadership(TALL). The academy will train students with innovative teaching methodology in physical and virtual classrooms and impart skills as well as self-empowerment through leadership training.

TAKE has invested $ 1 million in the academy. “We have been serving the global life sciences industry and this workforce empowerment will help to address the future needs of the sector,” said Ram Yeleswarapu, CEO of Take Solutions Ltd.  The Academy has modelled the course as being industry-specific. The course will be delivered by TALL while the exams and certification are to be carried out by Tata Institute of Social Studies (TISS).

“The Pharma wave that is happening in India right now will absorb lot of young talents. The academy will facilitate in that,” said Srinivasan H R, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Take Solutions Ltd.

To help underprivileged youth to pursue higher education, TALL has come out with a ‘earn while you learn scheme,’ in which the students will be enrolled in TISS and they will be placed in pharma companies to train themselves as well as earn during the tenure.

“The industry-aligned courses and practical approach will help the students to be readily absorbed by the industry. The course is an eye opener to Pharma graduates about the various opportunities in the sector,” said Anuradha Parakkat, President, TAKE Academy of Life Sciences.
