Chennai gets its Imax

A movie buff, are you? Then there is some welcome news. Chennai opens doors to the first Imax theatre in the state to be opened at Luxe Cinemas in Velachery. Though Chennai has two Imax screens at the Plazzo in Forum Vijaya Mall and Luxe, both have been closed due to the restriction on ticket pricing in the state. Tamil Nadu has a rule that bars pricing tickets more than Rs 120. These theatres have a larger screen that is curved extending from ceiling to floor and between the walls. The cost of setting it up and projecting movies is expensive and they had been closed as Rs 120 per ticket would not be viable to meet the cost. The multiplexes had requested the government to allow them to raise the ticket prices and now it has been priced at Rs 360 per ticket plus other charges. The Luxe Cinemas has a capacity of 428 seats and the first movie to be screened is the Bond movie, Spectre.
