Chennai soon to get an Aerospace Park

Drive across the outskirts of Chennai, and you are sure to find top manufacturing brands across various sectors. Perhaps if you just felt that aerospace was missing, you will have that too soon. Thank TIDCO, that is setting up the Aerospace components’ Manufacturing Park at Sriperumbudur. Spread across 250 acres expandable up to 700 acres, the park will create an integrated environment for aerospace design, engineering, manufacture, servicing and maintenance of aircraft for the civil and defence sector. Construction work will commence in March 2017. Leading multinational joint ventures in manufacturing and services have evinced interest and the park has already attracted investments worth Rs 1105 crore from 11 companies; 19 more have proposed investments worth Rs 2000 crore. The park is expected to generate around 5000 jobs. The park will have basic facilities that include, an advanced computing and engineering design centre, common testing and technology centre, avionics complex, composites development centre and a warehousing complex. The park will have developed industrial plots with utilities like power and water and facilitate the building of communication, connectivity, and social infrastructures to suit to specific needs.
