Raj Bhavan opened the gates for public

Ever wondered what was behind those cordoned gates of the Raj Bhavan in Chennai? Well, you do not have to anymore.

Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao opened the gates of his official residence to the public. Inaugurating, he said: “this will provide an opportunity for the public not only to see this historic place but to feel oneness with nature and enjoy the green cover.” Raj Bhavan is one of the few existing green sheets in the heart of the city. The premise is home to 152 species of trees and a lot of deer.

Visitors will be allowed to the nursery, duck pond, Durbar Hall, lovebirds’nest, deer-sighting place, presidential suite and the oval garden.

The battery operated vehicle guided tour is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm. The public can register online at www.tnrajbhavan.gov.in. The registration fee is Rs 25 per person. Registered visitors would receive an SMS and an email informing them of the acceptance. Visitors must bring an ID proof and a copy of the email during the visit.
