Yamaha in the news

Under the Manufacturing Skill Transfer Promotion Program by GOI and the Japanese government, Yamaha Motor NTTF Training Center (YNTC) has been set up by India Yamaha Motors at its Chennai plant. India, the global leader in two wheeler production and forecasted to become the third largest producer of cars, is the third highest contributor towards Yamaha’s total sales. This CSR initiative aims at tapping rural talent and intends to create a pool of skilled laborers. A four-year programme in manufacturing technology has been designed in collaboration with Nettur Technical Training Foundation wherein IYM would impart on-the-job training and NTTF, class room teaching. 40 students have already enrolled for the course. The course covers Motorcycle Assembly, Parts Control, Paint, Welding, Casting, Machining, Quality Control, and Utility Techniques – the Japanese way.

Yamaha has also set up a scooter boutique at GST Road, Chromepet. The country’s first-of-its-kind outlet would provide sales, servicing and fashion accessories topped with world class customer service. The boutique covers motorcycles, scooters and premium superbikes. Five years since Yamaha ventured into scooters in India, the category now drives Yamaha’s growth in the country, with Fascino and Ray variants being its most popular models.
