Prithika Yashini takes charge...

PritHika Yashini has taken charge at the city’s Choolaimedu Police Station. So what’s the big deal? Well, she is a transgender who went under the knife after her graduation to become Prithika Yashini.

She had always wanted to be cop. Initially rejected by the Recruitment Board, she moved the court which inclusion of a ‘third category.’ The first ever transgender cop in India, Yashini underwent training at the Police Academy and after a stint at Dharmapuri, has now assumed office at Chennai. “I promise to serve the society without bias,” she said.
