When the crowd will miss the roar

After banning Sri Lankan IPL matches in Chennai and then banning all IPL matches from Chennai, this season we have reached its epitome with Chennai’s favorite yellow Jerseys, the Chennai Super Kings, barred for two years due to charges of illegal betting.

Chennai’s fans are said to be class apart. They applaud the best players, irrespective of which team they belong to. They once famously stood up to salute the Pakistanis when the latter did a victory lap after a stunning victory over India after the god of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, had brought India tantalizingly close to victory.

The Chennai crowd is knowledgeable and treats matches seriously.  They stadium is struck in legal tangles. With several stands being closed by the Corporation, international matches are not hosted here. Hope with this election, things would get sorted out and Chennai will get back its dose of international cricket.
