Education a cause of concern

Though the state boasts of maximum education coverage even in the remotest corner, the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) prepared by Pratham Foundation has facts contradicting this claim. Learning levels of children in rural areas are much less than the national average. It is even shocking that half of class 3-5 children are unable to read a class 1 text book. The state’s implementation of RTE has been quite commendable but skills acquisition by kids has decreased. The major reason for this down turn is acceded to cramming of syllabus during the kinder garden classes than facilitating the children to learn at their own pace. Several government and corporation schools in the state still lack basic needs. Public private partnership can help 4 bring in technology and better management of these schools and improve the quality of education.
