International conference on saving energy, environment

An international conference on emerging trends in energy and environment was organised by department of mechanical engineering of Sri Sairam Engineering College.  About 50 papers related to energy and environment were presented by eminent research scholars and academicians. In addition, keynote lectures were delivered by experts from IIT-Madras, UK, Canada, Kuwait and Germany along with panel discussions. The proceedings containing the research papers were also released in the conference.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest-IFS, Gautam Dey, who inaugurated the conference pointed out the importance of planting trees and making the environment clean and green everywhere.  He also stressed on the need of serving society by carrying out innovative projects and implementing the same during the career beneficial to all. The inaugural address was followed by a key note lecture by Dr Tapas Mallich, Chair in Clean technologies (Renewable energy), University of Exter Cornwell Campus, UK. Advisor of Ministry of Earth Sciences, Dr M Sudhakar, the chief guest in his valedictory address advised the students to develop skills and knowledge in engineering and technology.
