Land scams rock AP & TS

While tampering of revenue records have led to various land scams in Andhra Pradesh, several instances of government land being clandestinely transferred to private individuals have been coming to light in Telangana. Internal audit of the registration department revealed hundreds of acres of government land in Medchal district worth over 1000 crore being sold, causing a loss of Rs 587.11 crore to the State government. The Rajya Sabha MP K Kesava Rao’s family has allegedly purchased government forest land and TRS MP D Srinivas, land allotted to dalits. The brain behind the scams is said to be PS Prasad, who has been targeting lands belonging to descendants of Nizam of Hyderadabad. Prasad has absconded.
