Gamesa to set up a plant in Nellore

Leading wind turbine maker Gamesa will be setting up a Greenfield manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh with an outlay of Rs.300 crore in a bid to cash in on the growing opportunity in the wind power segment.

The company will establish an integrated manufacturing facility at Iffco Kissan SEZ, located in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. Phase I of the project will have a blade production unit for the G114-2.0 MW wind turbine model, which will have a rotor diameter of 114 metres or 374 feet.

The blade plant is expected to start operations by September this year. The facility will be equipped to produce 300 MW per annum in the initial period. It is projected to employ over 1000 while its ancillary units will create more jobs.  Gamesa already operates two nacelle manufacturing facilities near Chennai and a blade manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat.
