Yamaha unveils scooter boutique

Japanese auto major Yamaha is confident of maintaining its higher-than-the industry growth in scooters during this calendar year.

The company aims to sell nine lakh units, including scooters and bikes in 2017 against 7.5 lakh units in 2016.

The company has come out with a first-of-its-kind new concept ‘scooter boutique’ with an eye to enhance the scooter buying experience. The first boutique has come up in Chennai and 20 more such stores will come up across the country by the end of 2017.

With strong growth prospects in scooter market and a strong product line-up, Yamaha hopes to increase its volumes and market share.

“Yamaha wants to offer a unique buying experience in scooters with fashion quotient and came up with the this boutique idea This is the first such concept in the world,” according to Roy Kurian, Senior Vice-President – Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India.

The company expects the boutique stores to fetch additional sales of 20-25 per cent by the end of 2017.
