TVS Srichakra plans capacity expansion

Leading two-wheeler tyre makers TVS Srichakra plans to increase its production capacity with an investment of Rs.160 crore due to positive growth outlook in the domestic two-wheeler market as also to beef up its exports.

The company will expand its capacities at Madurai and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) units. The total capacity will go up to 2.5 million tyres a month from 2.3 million tyres a month.

While two-wheeler industry reported a single digit growth in 2015-16, tyre companies are hopeful of better growth due to favourable monsoon prospects and higher rural spend announced in the latest Union Budget. Thus, better growth prospects are expected to drive more demand for two-wheeler tyres.
