V-Guard launches app-enabled water heater system

Kerala-based V-Guard Industries Ltd, a leading manufacturer of voltage stabilisers, inverters and water heaters, has launched Verano, its all new intelligent water heater system.

The Verano water heater can be operated through a smartphone app from anywhere and also controlled with an infrared (IR) remote. What if you have forgotten to switch off your geyser? You can do so without a worry. From anywhere in the world, wherever you are, the geyser can be switched off or on. So, consumers can establish their own schedule for turning the water heater on and off as per their own convenience using this app.

The new water heater is equipped with a mechanism that will trigger alerts to consumers through the app in the case of any failure of device components. Complaints can be registered through the app by a click that will notify the service centre for correcting the problems.

The Kerala-headquartered company has joined into Internet of Things (IoT) wave that has led to scores of consumer products firms launching Wi-Fi enabled home products in the recent months.

The Verano is complete with a 5-star BEE Standard rating that helps consumers to save maximum energy. The water heater comes with a digital temperature control and LED display panel to indicate temperature and time. It also has an audible alarm for cut off, restart and key touch mechanisms. A high-quality branded steel inner tank in the product ensures additional reliability.

“The launch of Verano follows the rollout of our Pebble water heater two years ago. This is India’s first IoT-enabled product and marks our growing capabilities in digital technologies. The new product is launched in response to the changing needs of consumers in home automation segment,” according to V Ramachandran, Director and Chief Operating Officer, V-Guard Industries.

Verano has been developed by the in-house R&D team with some technology partners. The product will be sold in two variants – 25 litre model will carry a price tag of Rs.17,500, while 15 litre variant will be priced at Rs.16,000.

V-Guard is the third largest player in the water heater market in the country with about 18 per cent share. It commands leadership position in south region, which contributes two-thirds of its revenues. The company had revenues of Rs.1862 crore in 2015-16.
