MAHANADI COALFIELDS LTD.
(MCL) – a subsidiary of Coal India (CIL) -is thinking of setting up a 1600 MW power plant at the mouth of a coalfield in the Mahanadi basin at a cost of Rs 9000 crore. This would mark the grand entry of the national coal major into the power sector.
Well, sanity must dawn now! Such power plants generally have a gestation period of 4 years and besides that, this project, if approved, has to get the environmental clearance! So, if all goes well, then April 2017 need not be the cruelest!
