GNS - 100: our first subscriber

When I launched IE in 1968, the first subscription came from my uncle G N Subramanian (GNS), then working as a senior officer with Madras Telephones. GNS graduated from the Madras Christian College soon after its getting shifted to Tambaram. Since I used to work for a couple of years with MCC before entering journalism, GNS and I used to reminisce on our MCC days with passion. He readily agreed to become the President of the Social Service Centre, Mambalam, involved in a  variety of social, literary and cultural activities.  On 03 December GNS turned 100. His  children – Civil Engineer S Narayanaswamy, Chartered Accountant S Shankar, and CA-cum-MBA S Ravi, who heads Build Craft -- along with other family members, celebrated GNS- 100.IE team sends its greetings to its first subscriber who has been with us right from inception.
