Naidu’s return augurs well for Seemandhra

The Telugu Desam Party headed by N Chandrababu Naidu, in association with the BJP, won 17 (out of 25) seats for the Lok Sabha from Seemandhra. In the elections held for the state assembly this team had won 102 seats out of 175 and is slated to assume power. Congratulations Naidugaru!

In his earlier term as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu made an indelible mark. Hyderabad witnessed revolutionary changes making a mark in IT, pharma and several other sunrise industries. An ace communicator and organiser, Naidu turned Hyderabad into an important centre for national and international seminars and conferences. The HITEC City, Hitex Exhibition Centre,  National Construction Academy, International School of Business, Shilpa Kala Vedika and the adjacent Hyderabad International Convention Centre  that he helped to establish bear estimony to his record as chief minister. He set the state on a competitive mode with Karnataka in the matter of IT. In fact, Murasoli Maran as Minister of Commerce and Industry, was so impressed with the Hi-tech city he inaugurated that he persuaded then TN Chief Minister Karunanidhi to give priority to IT development: The Tidel Park and the rich cluster of IT units along  OMR followed. Naidu also made excellent use of his closeness to the NDA government in getting for the state the best of Central schemes. He quietly persuaded the Centre in giving Andhras plump posts like the Governor of Reserve Bank, Cabinet Secretary and CEO of Maruti Udyog.

Like Modi,  Naidu familiarised himself with the development focus of the Asian tigers and endeavoured to build AP as a modern, advanced state. The spectacular transformation of Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam owe a good deal to Naidu. One can expect the new capital of  Seemandhra developed on the lines of Hyderabad in quick time. One can expect the state re-invigorated by its thrust on technology and modernisation under Naidu.
