Creditors to the beleaguered Kingfisher airline who have to recover dues worth Rs 7000 crore lent to the Bengaluru based liquor king Vijay Mallya’s United Breweries (UB) has reportedly launched sale procedures for selling the Kingfisher brand to cut a deal to recover their losses.
Kingfisher airline had offered the Kingfisher brand as collateral to bankers when launching the airline. The Kingfisher brand alone is valued over Rs 3000 crore by an audit firm.
The list of trademarks being offered is: Fly Kingfisher, Flying Models, Fly the Good Times, Funliner, Kingfisher and Flying Bird Device.
Some brand value management firms are sceptical of any takers for the Kingfisher brand because the Kingfisher beer brand which was offered as collateral is completely protected from any exposure of the airline.
SBI leads a group of 14 lenders which hopes to recover at least Rs 1000 crore even as it starts takeover of assets covering buildings, helicopters and other fixtures.
