Netherlands to join India in Make India campaign and Smart City projects

With Prime Minister Modi opening out to the world beckoning FDI into India for fast track projects, the visits by Trade and Investment Ministers from overseas has doubled. India was the beneficiary of US $ 20 billion in commitment from the visiting Chinese President Xi Jing. India secured commitment of US $ 30 billion of investments from Japan and an indication of about US $ 100 billion from USA depending on ease of protocols for investments.

All these investments are being channelled into Smart Cities and may also go into his make in India campaign.  Close on the heels of the visits of the US Foreign Secretary and the British and Singapore foreign and trade ministers, now comes the visit of the Dutch, Lilianne Ploumen.  She led a high-powered trade mission with over 30 companies that promise investment and technology for Modi initiated smart cities. She met with India’s Nirmala Sitharaman and Maneka Gandhi.

Indo-Dutch trade figures have touched over 5.8 billion Euros per annum. This has the potential to grow in the future. “India has great and ambitious plans to construct sea ports and smart cities. The Netherlands may collaborate with India in realizing these plans,” she said..  The Netherlands is now the fifth largest investor in India.
