The Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed on 4 June 2025 at Chennai, which is targeted at significantly enhancing the incomes and economic participation of women entrepreneurs across the state’s urban and rural settlements.
The MoU was signed by Dr Valli Arunachalam, Founder of Women Up Tamil Nadu, and Ms. Rajashri Sai, Founder of Impactree Livelihood Foundation and Mr. Anshul Mishra IAS, Managing Director of TNUHDB. The agreements portray a firm commitment to rooting Women’s economic empowerment within the broader agenda of urban and rural development, through targeted interventions, community-driven initiatives and institutional capacity building.
This initiative is a hands-on entrepreneurship development programme, designed to equip women with the tools to scale their businesses, enhance market access and reinforce support ecosystems essential for sustainable growth.
A key component of the programme includes a structured fellowship designed for government officials and community workers. This will provide them with practical skills and knowledge to mentor and support women-led enterprises at the grassroots level, thereby institutionalising long-term change.
Beyond Implementation, the partnership aspires to foster thought leadership in Women’s entrepreneurship. It aims to influence policy, shape best practices, and drive discourse that foregrounds inclusive economic growth.
This MoU seems to be a positive initiative for women entrepreneurs in Tamil Nadu. In which women are not merely beneficiaries of welfare schemes, but as a Lead player in reshaping the local economies.
