Ashok Leyland launches new engines

Ashok Leyland, a Chennai-based commercial vehicle manufacturer and part of the Hinduja Group, has launched its new P15 and H4 Unipack compact engines at EXCON 2025.

According to a release, the P15 comes in 49 HP and 55 HP options. The H4 Unipack is offered in 55 HP and 74 HP variants.

Both engines meet the CEV Stage V emission norms. The company said the products were designed for use in off-highway and industrial equipment.

Amandeep Singh, President – LCV, International Operations, Defence and Power Solutions, said, “The new engines support smooth and cost-efficient operations for customers.” The P15 and H4 Unipack strengthened the company’s focus on innovation and align with India’s Make in India programme, he said.

Sathyanandan M, Head – Power Solutions, said that the company aimed to support construction and industrial users with engines that were easy to integrate and suitable for multiple equipment categories.

The P15 engine is meant for small machines such as skid-steer loaders, mini compactors, sweepers and forklifts. It offers a lightweight design and lower fuel use. A high-speed non-emission variant of up to 3300 rpm is available, along with a CNG version.

The H4 Unipack is targeted at backhoe loaders and other high-load equipment. It supports operations at altitudes up to 5,500 metres and allows cold starts.

Ashok Leyland showcased a variety of innovative solutions at the event, featuring the A6 Series 380 HP CRS engine, the H6 Series hydrogen/flexi-fuel engine and the H6 Series 133 HP CEV Stage V engine without an intercooler. Additionally, it presented an 82.5 kVA diesel genset, the Compact Flex EATS designed for CEV Stage V and Trem Stage V, as well as airless DEF tank systems, highlighting their commitment to advancing technology in the commercial vehicle sector.
