Samvardhana Motherson International investment has potential to create around 7,000 employment opportunities across design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly and logistics, an official release said.

The company has signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the state government to establish Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly and Logistics (D.E.M.A.L.) facilities across multiple locations in the State.

Motherson, together with its joint-venture partners from the UK and Europe, is proposing to invest over the next five years, Guidance Tamil Nadu, the State’s nodal agency said.

While Motherson is an Indian-headquartered global company, the proposed investment has a strong international dimension, bringing together its global joint venture network, technical capabilities and international partnerships to further strengthen Tamil Nadu’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, it added.

EY has committed an investment of Rs 1,000 crore towards establishing a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Tamil Nadu on behalf of a client, expected to create more than 2,000 high-value employment opportunities, it said.

Sigma Technology Group is expanding its presence in Tamil Nadu, further strengthening the State’s growing ecosystem in technology, engineering and digital services.

Power equipment maker Wilson Power Solutions has signed a Rs 300 crore investment MoU for a new manufacturing unit in Tiruvallur district, creating 400 local jobs.

A leading European vehicle spare parts manufacturing company expressed its preference for Tamil Nadu as the preferred location for its proposed Rs 3,000 crore investment in India, the official release said.

Welcoming the investment commitments, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister S Keerthana said the State’s investment strategy is focused not merely on attracting capital, but on creating quality employment, developing advanced capabilities and building the industries of the future.

“Every investment strengthens our economy. Every job strengthens a family. Every new capability strengthens Tamil Nadu. We will continue to work towards making Tamil Nadu the preferred destination for global companies looking to invest, innovate and grow,” she said.

“It is particularly significant that a global professional services organisation like EY has chosen Tamil Nadu to establish and operate a GCC for its client for the first time in the State. This investment will create more than 2,000 high-value employment opportunities and further strengthen Tamil Nadu’s talent and technology ecosystem,” Keerthana said.

“With the proactive efforts of the Industries Department, is focused on building a next-generation GCC ecosystem that attracts global enterprises, creates high-value employment and strengthens Tamil Nadu’s position in global value chains. The EY announcement is an important step in translating the vision of three GCC corridors into a globally competitive reality,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ashok Leyland Managing Director Dheeraj Hinduja, executive chairman of Finolex Industries Ltd Prakash P Chhabria, and director Ritu Prakash Chhabria called on Vijay.

During the meeting, Hinduja briefed the chief minister about the progress of the Group’s investments in Tamil Nadu and measures being taken under the Rs 2,500 crore MOU signed during the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investors’ Conclave in August.

The meeting also discussed ways to increase exports of commercial vehicles manufactured in the State and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s role as an export hub for the automotive industry, the official release said.
