The company launched NeoCharge at the Seafood Expo Bharat 2025, held at the Chennai Trade Centre from July 1 to 3.

The new product aims to transform cold chain infrastructure across the seafood value chain. According to Danfoss, NeoCharge can increase cold room capacity by up to 50% while cutting energy costs by up to 20%, all without increasing the refrigerant charge. This makes it an ideal solution for both new and retrofitted refrigeration systems, said the company.

Ravichandran Purushothaman, President of Danfoss India, stated that India’s seafood sector is undergoing a remarkable transformation, marked by a strong emphasis on modernization, sustainability, and export growth.

He highlighted Danfoss’s role in supporting this growth by bringing advanced technologies to the country and promoting the ‘Make in India’ initiative through local manufacturing and innovation. “We reaffirm our commitment to empowering India’s cold chain and aquaculture industries with energy-efficient solutions that reduce operational costs and drive long-term sustainable growth,” he added.

India has rapidly emerged as the second-largest producer of seafood globally, contributing 8.92% to global seafood production and ranking sixth in marine seafood output with a 5% share worldwide. The fisheries sector plays a vital role in the country’s economy, contributing 6.9% to agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and 1.07% to the National GVA, while supporting food security and rural livelihoods.

Under the government’s Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, India aims to cross 20 million tonnes of seafood production by 2030 and exceed 40 million tonnes by 2047, alongside increasing its share of global seafood exports to over 8%. These ambitious targets highlight the growing need for scalable, sustainable, and energy-efficient cold chain infrastructure across the seafood value chain.

Madhur Sehgal, Head of Danfoss Climate Solutions Sales, said, “NeoCharge is a game changer, as it reduces ammonia refrigerant charge by up to 50%, enhancing safety in new plants, and can be retrofitted to older systems to boost storage capacity without increasing refrigerant use.”

As the sector expands, the need for reliable, energy-efficient cold chain solutions becomes critical. Danfoss India’s innovations are poised to reduce post-harvest losses, improve shelf life, and ensure temperature consistency from catch to consumer—paving the way for India to strengthen its global seafood leadership.

By offering innovative refrigeration solutions that allow industries to retrofit their existing setups, Danfoss India seeks to play a key role in transforming cold chain infrastructure, reducing losses, and maintaining quality and safety across the seafood supply chain.
