EMS provider PG Electroplast says gas supply affected

PG Electroplast Ltd., an electronic manufacturing services (EMS) provider for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of consumer electronic products, said it is currently assessing the situation with respect to any supply curtailment that may need to be imposed on its downstream customers, after its gas suppliers have communicated a shortage of gas under its Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement.

The said communication is due to the constraints faced by certain vessels arising from maritime navigation restrictions in the light of the ongoing war in the Middle East region, impacting the gas supply scenario. Consequently, the availability of gas has become severely constrained. Due to supply restrictions imposed by the suppliers, the allocation of LPG quantities to PGEL under the said contract has been constrained with effect from 9 March, the company said in a stock exchange announcement.

PG Electroplast said it is exploring alternative sources/supplies for unaffected production. At this stage, the potential impact of the ongoing shortage situation cannot be quantified. The company said it is closely monitoring developments.
