“Q2 FY27 was a milestone quarter for HMIL, marked by record volumes and quarterly revenue exceeding Rs 20,000 crore for the first time since our inception. However, elevated commodity costs weighed on the quarter’s profitability,” Tarun Garg, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, HMIL, said in a statement.

“Looking ahead, we see second half of FY27 as a period of accelerated momentum for us. Launch of Bayon marks the onset of our golden product cycle. We are also fully geared up for the launch of dedicated mass market EV in Q4 FY27. While macro-economic uncertainties and cost pressures persist, we remain focused on strengthening our leadership across key segments, delivering sustainable growth and profitability,” he added.

The company recorded highest-ever quarterly total sales of 219,072 units, supported by healthy growth of 15 per cent year on year and 23 per cent sequentially.

Domestic, volumes were up 19 per cent year on year and quarter on quarter, complemented by all-time high rural penetration of 26.6 per cent and a record CNG contribution of 19.1 per cent in any quarter.

Export witnessed growth of 4 per cent year on year and a strong sequential growth of 38 per cent, despite geo-political challenges, Hyundai said.

The company’s second quarter net profit declined to Rs 1,196.2 crore from Rs 1,572.3 crore in the same period last year. Commodity headwinds weighed on profitability, however operating leverage, healthy mix and cost reduction initiatives helped improve EBITDA margin sequentially. EBITDA margin increased to 9.5 per cent in the second quarter from 9.3 per cent in the first quarter. The EBITDA margin was 13.9 per cent in the second quarter of FY2026.

Hyundai’s second quarter revenue increased to Rs 20,696.1 crore from Rs 17,460.8 crore in the same period last year.
