This initiative aims to provide a curated training programme, followed by a credible and standardised benchmark of employability for engineering and diploma students across India.

The initiative, launched by Dharmendra Pradhan, Education Minister, Government of India, is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

NIPTA offers a curated 10-to-12-week training, covering technical subjects, mathematical aptitude, logical reasoning and communication skills. Free training resources, including video lectures and sample questions, will be provided to all students.  The training culminates in a three-hour, in-person, proctored evaluation at designated centres nationwide. It targets third- and final-year engineering students, recent graduates, final-year diploma students and diploma holders.

Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said that NIPTA aligned with the institute’s motto of ‘IITM for all,’ aiming to democratise opportunities for all students across India. Participants will receive a performance-based certificate issued by IIT-Madras. This provides a transparent indicator of skills, helping students benchmark themselves and enabling recruiters to identify the right talent efficiently.

IIT Madras also plans to share assessment results with recruiters and organise a national job and internship Mela in early 2026 to connect assessed students with potential employers. This move aligns with the Institute’s motto of ‘IITM for all,’ aspiring to democratise opportunities.
