Tamil Nadu has obtained an implementation score of 90.86 for 2017, a big jump from the 62.80 in 2016. Several reforms were implemented after the reference period and these will help propel further the ranking in 2018.
Key reforms
The government launched the Single Window Portal for MSMEs. This is in addition to its existing Single Window Portal for large industries. MSME industries applying through this portal will have no facilitation charge.
A Grievance Redressal Centre was established at Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board to clarify the queries of industrial units relating to pending approvals and also queries of the general public.
The Land Registration Department has launched a real-time web-based software, “Project – STAR 2.0” for online appointments, end to end document registration, e-stamping, provision to quote geo-coordinates, online delivery of encumbrance and other certified documents and fingerprint authorisation. Facilitation of online Patta transfer is executed through the Land Registrar Office.
The government provides various incentives to MSMEs like, The New Entrepreneur Cum Enterprises Development Scheme (NEEDS), Scheme for Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE), Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme (UYEGP)…
The Industries Department helped industries resolve issues with other departments. These measures have helped industrial units in the smooth running of their businesses and created an excellent industrial/investment climate.
