The announcement was made at ISF’s 34th Annual General Meeting held in Chennai.
“Our journey from our footwear manufacturing initiatives in Perambalur and Karur creating large-scale employment and strengthening the Make in India ecosystem to our new projects in Madurai and Ramanathapuram, reaffirms our Group’s long-term commitment to Tamil Nadu’s footwear and allied industries,” Rafiq Ahmed said.
KICL is a Chennai-based diversified conglomerate with a rich legacy and presence across verticals including fertilizers, industrial chemicals, minerals, sustainable industrial solutions, drone division, Kothari Public school, facility management services, hospitality and aviation services. Thecompany plans to create employment opportunities of over 50,000 by 2027, with a special focus on empowering women in backward districts of Tamil Nadu.
Rafiq Ahmed also pointed out one of the key pillar of KICL’s vision is the new IUAD Italy design education initiative.
“As India enters an exciting era of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), while global market access will not only unlock enormous opportunities, but also bring greater competition. Design, innovation, product development and global consumer understanding will be critical to converting this opportunity into sustainable growth,” he said.
“Our collaboration with IUAD Italy coming up at Hosur aims to bring world-class design expertise to India — empowering our talent to design for the world, not just manufacture for it, Rafiq Ahmed added.
