Re-appointment of Ramesh Babu as MD of KVB gets RBI nod

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the re-appointment of B Ramesh Babu as Managing Director and CEO of Karur Vysya Bank for a third term of two years with effect from 29 July 2026.

The RBI, on 24 April, approved the re-appointment, the bank said in a stock exchange filing.

On January 23, the board of KVB had considered and approved the proposal for re-appointment of B Ramesh Babu as the Managing Director and CEO of the bank.

Babu was appointed as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank for a period of three years and had taken charge on 29 July 2020. He was re-appointed as Managing Director & CEO of the bank for the second term of three years, with effect from 29 July 2023.

He was Ex-Deputy Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer in State Bank of India.

During the period from June 2020 to quarter ended December 2025, KVB has been consistently progressing in terms of growth, profitability and asset quality. The bank has shown a business growth with compounded annual growth rate of 14 per cent. Return on Assets (ROA) has improved from 0.59 per cent (June 2020 quarter) to 2.05 per cent (December 2025 quarter) and Return on Equity (ROE) has moved from 6.29 per cent (June 2020 quarter) to 20.48 per cent (December 2025 quarter). Net NPA (non-performing assets) declined from 3.44 per cent to 0.19 per cent during the same period.
