PFRDA gets a new chairman

New Delhi, June 20, 2025 — Sivasubramanian Ramann has officially assumed charge as the Chairperson of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) today. His appointment was made by the Government of India through a notification dated April 8, 2025. Ramann will serve a five-year term from the date of assuming office, or until he turns 65, or until further orders—whichever occurs first.

New Delhi, June 20, 2025 — Sivasubramanian Ramann has officially assumed charge as the Chairperson of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) today. His appointment was made by the Government of India through a notification dated April 8, 2025. Ramann will serve a five-year term from the date of assuming office, or until he turns 65, or until further orders—whichever occurs first.

A seasoned civil servant from the 1991 batch of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS), Ramann brings with him over three decades of experience in public finance, regulatory oversight, and digital governance. Prior to his appointment at PFRDA, he held the position of Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General and Chief Technology Officer in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, according to a statement.

His career spans several high-profile roles, including Chairman and Managing Director of the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Managing Director and CEO of National E-Governance Services Ltd. (NeSL), and Principal Accountant General of Jharkhand. Between 2006 and 2013, he also served at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as Chief General Manager and later as Executive Director.

Ramann holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and an MBA from the University of Delhi. He also holds an M.Sc. in Financial Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science, an LLB, a Chief Digital Officer certification from the Indian School of Business, a Certified Internal Auditor designation from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Florida, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Securities Law.

With his extensive expertise at the intersection of finance, technology, and regulation, Ramann is expected to lead the PFRDA in enhancing pension framework.
