The extended period being from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027.

In a post on X, State Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said that the move aligned with the State’s sustainability focus.

“It reinforces our commitment to support EV adoption, affordability and manufacturing at scale,” he said.
“Electric vehicle adoption in Tamil Nadu has already reached 7.8% in 2025, and I do feel there is still a long way to go especially with charging infra and of course making the entire supply greener,” Rajaa said.

This policy reduced cost for consumers while giving manufacturers long-term certainty, he said

Even as global markets faced volatility and pressure on clean mobility investments, Tamil Nadu kept  its signal clear and stable, Rajaa said.
