WPI inflation increases to 1.81% in January

The annual rate of inflation based on All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) number is 1.81 per cent (provisional) for the month of January, 2026 (over January, 2025). The WPI was 0.83 per cent in December.

Positive rate of inflation in January, 2026 is primarily due to increase in prices of manufacture of basic metals, other manufacturing, non-food articles, food articles and textiles etc., the government said.

The month over month change in WPI for the month of January, 2026 stood at 0.51% as compared to December, 2025.

In January 2026 , Food Inflation stood at 1.41 per cent, while manufactured products inflation stood at 2.86 per cent.
