The agreement was signed under the Startup Policy Forum’s Build in Bharat initiative, which brings together more than 50 innovation-led startups to foster deep-tech and hardware innovation across sectors, according to an official release.

The partnership aims to accelerate the growth of clean mobility and support EV-focused startups by providing strategic mentorship, infrastructure support, and innovation programs such as the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge. It will also include joint talent and skill development initiatives, participation in flagship events like Startup Mahakumbh, and exposure visits for entrepreneurs.

“The electric mobility sector in India is entering a transformative phase,” said DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv Singh, adding, “through this partnership with Ather Energy, we aim to foster a supportive environment for startups to contribute meaningfully to EV manufacturing, battery innovation, and clean energy solutions.”

“With the right policy backing and industry collaboration, this initiative can help Indian founders solve core technology challenges and build globally competitive products,” said Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Ather Energy.

Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President and CEO of the Startup Policy Forum, said the initiative represents a major step forward for the Build in Bharat campaign. “This partnership unlocks the potential of India’s manufacturing sector through strategic collaboration and lays the foundation for a robust, innovation-driven ecosystem,” she said.

The collaboration is expected to support India’s transition to sustainable transportation, enhance its manufacturing capabilities, and align with the country’s broader climate and industrial development goals.
