During CY2025, Hyundai sold an average of around 550 CRETA vehicles every day, underlining the model’s strong demand and leadership in the Indian SUV market.
Hyundai CRETA continues to be the best-selling SUV in India on a cumulative basis over the last five years. In the mid-size SUV segment, it currently holds a market share of over 34 per cent, making it one of the most dominant nameplates in the country’s passenger vehicle market.
Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO designate, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “the journey of CRETA in India has been exceptional.” Crossing two lakh units in a year was a defining moment for the company, he said.
CRETA has evolved from being a capable SUV to a trusted companion for Indian families. According to him, the share of first-time buyers has grown from 13 per cent in 2020 to 32 per cent in 2025.
Customer preferences have also shifted towards higher-feature variants. In 2025, sunroof-equipped versions contributed more than 70 per cent of CRETA sales. Diesel variants continued to remain strong, accounting for about 44 per cent of total sales during the year.
Over the decade, the SUV has consistently led the mid-size SUV segment, even as competition intensified with multiple new launches. Between 2016 and 2025, the CRETA brand recorded a compound annual growth rate of over 9 per cent, reflecting a steady acceptance across customer segments. T
Since its launch in 2015, CRETA has been the highest-selling mid-size SUV in every completed year. The model is offered with multiple powertrain and transmission options, including petrol, diesel, turbo petrol and electric variants, across manual and automatic choices. Available in both ICE and EV formats, the CRETA addresses diverse customer needs while remaining future-ready, says a release.
