The 32,000 sq. ft facility is spread across four floors and is expected to double CaratLane’s overall production capacity.
In addition, the facility will contribute to local economic development by generating approximately 100 new specialised jobs.
Focusing on the full spectrum of the jewellery (from everyday wear to high-value solitaires), the facility integrates technologies such as high-precision 3D printers for intricate prototyping, advanced faceting machines for superior brilliance and finish, high-capacity laser cutting systems for enhanced productivity and specialised equipment designed to create lightweight and yet durable castings to drive efficiency.
The adoption of these advanced technologies is expected to significantly reduce production lead times, enabling faster turnaround from design conceptualisation to final delivery for customers, the company said in a statement.
Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director of CaratLane, said: “This new manufacturing facility in Chennai represents a strategic investment in strengthening our supply chain and scaling operations to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
Aligning with the sustainability commitments, the facility incorporates eco-conscious practices, including the installation of solar panels that generate 40 kW of clean energy. Also, it features an advanced water recycling system that ensures efficient reuse of water, minimising the unit’s environmental footprint.
