It spreads across seven acres and spans nearly five lakh square feet.

It is designed by Singapore-based architect Wong Chiu Man of WoW (Warner Wong Architects).

“The hotel reinterprets the iconic grandeur of the temple architecture through a modern artistic lens,” says a release.

The hotel offers sweeping views of all four gopurams of the Meenakshi temple. The property comprises two blocks – the luxury hotel and an expansive convention centre.

It features 186 rooms and suites in addition to five exclusive rooms within the convention centre. “Each accommodation category has been thoughtfully curated to deliver a seamless blend of space, sophistication and intuitive modern comforts,” the release added.

“With The Residency Signature Madurai, we are presenting more than a hotel. We are paying tribute to the cultural soul of this timeless city. Inspired by the architectural magnificence of the heritage structures in the city, the property reflects our deep respect for heritage, artistry and contemporary luxury. Bringing a destination of this scale and emotional significance to Madurai is a matter of immense pride for us,” the release quoted Ravi Appasamy, Chairman, The Residency Hotels, as saying.

The Presidential Suite, spanning nearly 2,000 square feet, offers two lavish bedrooms, expansive living spaces, private butler access and mesmerizing views of the temple towers and lake. The Executive Suite, spread across 1,500 square feet, and the Club Suites, designed with spacious living areas and premium amenities further elevate the stay experience with understated grandeur and refined detailing,” the release added.

The Residency Hotels has a portfolio of eight hotels across Chennai, Coimbatore, Puducherry, Karur, Rameswaram and Madurai.
