Commodity prices surged in Q1: TVS Motor

Two Wheeler maker TVS Motor Company said commodity prices witnessed a sharp upward trend in the first quarter of FY 2006-2027, due to global market uncertainties resulting in increased input costs.

The company partially mitigated the cost increases through price adjustments and focused cost optimisation initiatives, including scale benefits, the company said in a statement.

TVS Motor first quarter net profit rose 51 per cent to Rs 1,174 crore from Rs 776 crore in the comparable period last year.

Revenue grew 38 per cent to Rs 13,896 crore in the first quarter from Rs 10,081 crore in the year-ago period.

TVS Motor posted its highest EBITDA of Rs 1,779 crore in the first quarter, up 41 per cent from Rs 1,260 crore in the same period last year. EBITDA margin improved by 30 basis points to 12.8 per cent.

The company also recorded its highest ever quarterly sales. The overall two and three-wheelers grew by 28 per cent to 1.63 Million units in the April-June quarter from 1.28 Million units in the comparable period last year.

Motorcycle sales grew 19 per cent to 0.74 million units, while scooter sales grew 36 per cent to 0.68 million units.

Two-wheeler electric vehicles grew 86 per cent to 129,940 units in the first quarter of 2026-27 as against 70,060 units during first quarter of 2025-26. TVS Motor now has more than 1 million EV customers.

Three-wheelers sales grew 48 per cent to 66,697 units in the first quarter.

The company’s international business grew 33 per cent to 0.47 million units.
