TVS Motor to mull separation of fin services biz: Sudarshan Venu

TVS Motor Company will evaluate alternatives including a possible separation of the financial services business, its Chairman and Managing Director Sudarshan Venu said on Wednesday.

“The company at an appropriate time in stages guided by long-term strategic considerations, will evaluate alternatives including a possible separation of the financial services business to further strengthen and unlock shareholder value,” he said addressing the shareholders virtually at the company’s 34th annual general meeting.

“Our financial services business, TVS Credit, has had a strong year (FY2026). Disbursements grew 26 per cent and the company ended the year with an asset base of over 30,000 crores, serving over 24 million customers across two-wheelers, consumer durables, tractors and other products,” Sudarshan Venu said.

TVS Credit makes it possible for more people to meet their financial aspirations in India with in the fastest growing large economy with increasing middle class, he added.

“Over the years, the group has made sustained investments in building and nurturing its financial services business, which have evolved into an important part of the broader TVS Venu ecosystem,” Sudarshan Venu said.

Replying to a shareholder query on company’s proposed investment in Jana Small Finance Bank, he said the company sees lot of synergies and believe that bank will do well.

“It is not large. It is part of our financial services investments and the opportunity that we believe in and the synergies and the quality of the company,” Sudarshan Venu said.

On the outlook, he said India is expected to continue to be the fastest-growing large economy, projected in the range of 6.4 to 6.5 per cent in FY 2026-27.

“The first quarter of this year has demonstrated the aspirations of India and the robust growth in the two-wheeler business,” Sudarshan Venu pointed out.
