The company posted net loss of about Rs 1,900 crore in the second quarter, when compared to a loss of Rs 2,582 crore in the same period last year. The loss was Rs 237 crore in the preceding quarter.

Revenue from Operations increased 25.9 per cent to Rs 23,363.8 crore, while total expenses increased 18.6 per cent to Rs 26,188.4 crore from the comparable period last year.

“The seasonally soft September quarter saw exceptionally elevated fuel costs and continued geopolitical turmoil. We responded with prudent capacity reduction and yield management, supporting strong revenue performance but only partially offsetting the higher costs,” Willie Walsh, CEO, InterGlobe said.

“Despite these actions, the quarter resulted in a net loss of around 19 billion rupees. We remain focused on managing the near-term challenges while continuing to invest for the future. India’s long-term aviation opportunity remains compelling, and our priorities remain clear: safe and reliable operations, rigorous cost discipline, and disciplined growth that creates sustainable value,” he said.

IndiGo carried 27.5 million passengers during the September quarter, down 4.7 percent year-on-year. Load factor decreased by 2.2 points to 80.3 per cent.
