“In the past five months, we’ve actively helped startups raise around Rs 79 crore. We have moved from the last to the top ranking and NITI Aayog now recognises Tamil Nadu as an innovation leader. These are promising signs and we aim to build robust growth stories and major brands from Tamil Nadu,” said, Sivrajah Ramanathan Mission Director & CEO, StartupTN, during his inaugural address at the 2nd Edition of CII organised THRIVE-Start-Up Conclave 2024.

To improve the ecosystem, StartupTN has undertaken a project to study the 8900 startups statewide. About 68 per cent of the startups in Chennai have been covered and it is expected to be completed in a month or so. Further, plans for a Global Startup Summit in February 2025 are on cards. This will connect domestic startups with top performing ecosystems worldwide. “My advice to startups is, don’t just look at solutions for India scale, aim for global platforms,” said Srivats Ram, Chairman, CII TN State Council.
