The Passenger Vehicle retail sales saw its best June sales ever, the industry body said.

Passenger Vehicle alternative-fuel share — CNG, Hybrid and EV combined — crossed the 40 per cent mark for the first time and stood at 40.35 per cent in June 2026.

CNG accounted for 24.33 per cent, Hybrid 8.27 per cent and EB accounted for 7.75 per cent. Passenger vehicle EV sales stood at 31,823 units an all-time high, Fada said.

“June 2026 has been a landmark month for Indian Auto Retail — the best June ever recorded, with Two-Wheelers, Three-Wheelers, Commercial Vehicles, Passenger Vehicles and overall registrations each posting their highest-ever June figures,” C C S Vigneshwar, FADA President, said in a statement.

“The industry retailed 25,57,234 units, a robust 21.83 per cent year on year growth and a 1.03 per cent rise over May, led by passenger vehicles and tractors (at 25.31 per cent), followed by two wheelers at 21.22 per cent and commercial vehicle at 16.88 per cent and three wheelers at 16.20 per cent,” he said.

Tractors recorded their second-best June ever, Fada said.

Two Wheeler EV share entered double digits for the first time at 10.60 per cent, it said.

June witnessed best ever EV retail sales across every category, with CV, PV and overall EV retails at all-time highs, Fada said.

As per the data there was a 4.55 per cent dip in two wheeler rural demand, reflecting the late onset and uneven progress of the south-west monsoon, which kept rain-fed markets in a wait-and-watch mode.
Rural passenger vehicle demand dipped 0.11 per cent month on month.
