The digital revolution is impacting every business. In addition to revolutionising customer engagement processes, the advent of Industry 4.0 is having a profound impact on all our core business functions. Most companies see Digital as the new Disruptor and Saint-Gobain is no exception.
Saint-Gobain India started its digitalisation journey in early 2016 with the Customer Connect initiatives. Now Digital is deeply embedded in all the processes and is a core component of Saint-Gobain India’s strategy in Engaging Customers, Optimising Operations and Empowering Employees.

Engaging Customers

Several digital initiatives have been launched in the past two years to improve Customer Engagement. Popular social networking platforms are leveraged for hosting product stories, project showcases, image galleries and chat support channels resulting in more than a million interactions in 2018.
A fully redesigned Website is being launched to enhance user experience.

GlassDirect

GlassDirect is the digital touch-point for our customers, serving domestic and export markets. In 2018, GlassDirect was expanded to support retail sales through the Glass Distribution Centers, Automotive Glass Replacement business and new businesses in the adjacent markets. Customers can place orders, track status, receive shipment notifications, register complaints, provide feedback and avail a host of e-services through GlassDirect.

Optimising Operations

Saint-Gobain India began building competencies on Industry 4.0 in 2016. Digital Awareness was created among operations managers through a series of communication capsules, video tutorials and workshops. Nearly 50 opportunities were identified in early 2017 – in Process Automation, Real-Time Monitoring, Data Analytics, Predictive Maintenance, Automated ID, Positioning and Tracking, Digital Learning and Visual Factory Management. Saint-Gobain’s World Class Manufacturing Program was adopted for the systematic realisation of all potential opportunities through a two-pronged Digital Manufacturing Strategy.
One, developing scalable platforms for connecting the industrial systems and components for acquiring data, enabling analysis and presenting insights, leading to performance improvements. Two, developing mobile applications enabling employees to execute tasks, capture and report anomalies, perform checks and audits, get technical support…
Saint-Gobain India develops and maintains a world class Manufacturing and Logistics Execution System : ORION.
To leverage the applications, platforms and capabilities built at Saint-Gobain India, a Global Digital Manufacturing Competence Center, INDEC4.0, is established at the IIT-Madras Research Park, Chennai.

Empowering Employees

Digital technologies provide opportunities to redesign and optimise HR processes covering every stage of the employee journey. Rhapsody, the core HRMS Platform provides a solid foundation for Digitalisation of all HR processes.
My Info, the Employee Self-Service Application is a mature digital platform with the broadest reach in the organisation.
A variety of self-paced e-Learning modules through web and mobile platforms help in upskilling the employees.

Riding the Digital Wave

As the factories get connected more than ever, Cybersecurity remains a key focus area. A new Digital IT Center has been built to global standards at the World Glass Complex, Sri-perumbudur to provide a reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure. With Digital as a core component in its strategy, Saint-Gobain India will continue to ride the Digital Wave and be at the forefront of Digital Transformation.
