BMW launches 4,000 km charging corridor

German luxury carmaker BMW Group said it has become the first in India to surpass the milestone of 5,000 electric vehicle (EV) deliveries. To mark the achievement, the company inaugurated a 4,000-km high-power charging corridor stretching from Jammu to Madurai, aimed at easing long-distance EV travel.

The corridor places chargers every 300 km across key national highways and major cities including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hubbali, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Madurai. Charging stations, ranging from 120 kW to 720 kW, will be operated in partnership with Statiq and Zeon. BMW has also opened the network to customers of all EV brands in India, according to a statement.

Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, said the company was proud to become the first luxury carmaker in the country to cross the 5,000-EV milestone. “Our new high-power corridor ensures customers can enjoy Sheer Driving Pleasure without range anxiety,” he added.

BMW said its EV ecosystem now includes nearly 6,000 charging points across India, bolstered by 300 BMW Destination Chargers at hotels, resorts and malls. Features such as in-app integration, smart e-routing, and its industry-first Charging Concierge service further enhance convenience for customers.

The company currently retails the widest luxury EV portfolio in India, including models such as the BMW i7, iX, i5, i4, iX1 Long Wheelbase, MINI Countryman E, and electric scooters CE 04 and CE 02.

In H1 2025, BMW sold 1,322 BMW and MINI EVs, recording a 234% growth over last year, with EVs contributing 18% to overall sales. The BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase was the top-selling model, followed by the flagship BMW i7, it said.
