A vital link – at last!
In our January issue we pointed to a vital missing link of just a couple of 100 metres between Velachery and St Thomas Mount railway stations. This remains unfinished due to litigation on the part of property owners pitching higher and higher demand for the property to be surrendered. Just look at the value of property zooming in two decades from around Rs 10,000 a ground (2400 sq.ft) to over Rs 4 crore today!
There is encouraging news. A senior official of the
government mentioned sorting out the issue that will pave the way for completing the project in quick time. On completion, this will provide for easy transfer of a commuter anywhere on the Tambaram-Beach section of the old suburban rail system and the metro CMRL line to stations on the MRTS line like Adyar, Mylapore, Triplicane…
Madhusudan Gopalan to head P&G India
Madhusudan Gopalan currently heading the P&G operations in Indonesia will be taking over as Managing Director of P&G India on 1 April succeeding Al Rajwani. Gopalan graduated in engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy and MBA from IIM-Calcutta. He joined P&G India in 1999. In his 19 year stint, Gopalan worked with the P&G -Walmart business team at Cincinnati, USA and later headed marketing, strategy and planning of the Indian operations. In recent years, he led P&G’s operations in Thailand and Indonesia.
