Godrej Storage Solutions’ new plant will come near Chennai
With rapid growth in e-commerce and FMCG, Godrej Storage Solutions (GSS) is enhancing its capacity to meet the demand. With a capacity of 90,000 tonnes at Ambattur, currently around 67,000 tonnes are produced. Due to the 75 per cent capacity utilisation, the company has started to chart out plans for a new unit near Chennai for expansion. “A plant of similar capacity will cost about Rs 350 crore without the land cost,” said Vikas Choudaha, Executive Vice President and Business Head. The company’s growth last fiscal was not as expected due to the steel prices. This year it expects to cross Rs 1000 crore revenue and targets about Rs 1600 crore revenue in the next three years. Currently the company exports to Middle East and Philippines and it forms 20 per cent of the revenue. It expects to enhance this share to a 30 per cent by entering new markets like Australia.
