Switch Mobility Unveils Electric LCV

Marking a significant step towards sustainable transportation solutions in India, switch Mobility has unveiled it’s Switch IEV series. In his opening address, Executive Chairman, Deeraj Hinduja emphasised the pivotal role of the automotive sector in facilitating the transition to a carbon-neutral future. The company’s dedication to environmental, social and governance principles was a central theme, aligning with their sustainability mission, aptly named “Zero at 100.”

The event featured a comprehensive presentation by Mahesh Babu, Chief Executive Officer, who provided insights into the company’s journey and the launch of the IEV series. He emphasised the critical role of government support in driving EV adoption, through policies such as Fame II and PLI schemes. Babu also discussed the evolving landscape of the transportation industry, with a growing focus on electrification, mobility-as-a-service, and digitisation.

The Switch IEV series boasts of a 330 Volt EV architecture, offering maximum efficiency, quick charging, and a long-life lithium-ion battery with a five-year warranty. This high voltage system sets it apart in its category, while the warranty provides customers, peace of mind. One of the series’ standout features is its modular and scalable design. It accommodates payloads ranging from 1.2 to 1.7 tonnes, offering flexibility to cater to a wide range of customer needs. The motors range from 40 to 60 kilowatts, ensuring adaptability and efficient performance.

Driver comfort is a top priority of the Switch IEV series. The vehicles feature spacious cabins with walk-through interiors, sliding and reclining seats and innovative additions like foldable parking trays. Moreover, reduced noise and vibration contribute to a more comfortable driving experience.

Babu highlighted that the Switch IEV series represents a new generation of intelligent and connected vehicles designed to meet the evolving needs of the commercial vehicle market. The vehicles are poised to make significant contributions to reducing CO2 emissions and promoting sustainable transportation.

The deliveries are expected to begin in January 2024. While the exact cost was not disclosed, the company hinted at competitive pricing that would yield substantial savings for buyers when considering acquisition cost, EMI, operation costs and maintenance cost.
